“Space Debris” Capture & Removal
Space debris is at a “critical imbalance”; and it has been for four decades. As of January 2019 there was more than 128 million pieces smaller than 1cm (0.4in), about 900,000 pieces of debris 1-10 cm, and around 34,000 pieces larger than 10 cm were estimated to be in low EARTH orbit (800-2,000km) around the earth but can extend to 35,000km in medium EARTH orbit (MEO) to Geostationary Orbit GEO). Many concepts have been postulated to the removal of space debris and consist of moving the debris to lower orbits so that they can deorbit and burn in the atmosphere, but we think that’s not healthy for us down here on EARTH, so we here working together at FANTHOM Propulsion, we think it should be moved to an orbit around or into the SUN where the debris will burn up…thus not putting anyone on earth at risk from fallout, like that that has already transpired.
